India Inc.

My Uncle from Pune is in town. Some of the points are credited to him.

  • Amithabh Bachan, Sachin Tendulkar seem to be advertising for something on TV all the time. They endorse everything from diapers to rectum pain releivers. Talks are on for these 2 to endorse sanitary napkins.
  • Tendulkar should use the razor he endorses on Amithabh. Bachan in-turn should use the fevicol he endorses on Tendulkar's arm (and his mouth).
  • I never thought I'd say this. Aishwarya Rai is another irritating face on TV. Now I find her repulsive and ugly. It is ridiculous that Bollywood sends her (or anybody else for that matter) to Cannes every year. Unless the French ordered for a court jester or a Devadas(also called Proxivon in France, sedative in English and poison in Afrikaans).
  • Komanam is the ideal dress for Indian summers. Sarees and Veshti/dhotis are punishments.
  • I will torture and kill the person who invented the Saree/Veshti. It should be regarded as a crime against humanity.
  • Everybody in India seem to know more about the Iraqi situation than GW Bush. They also seem to have some opinions on GW Bush's intellect. Even the most pea brain idiot, I meet on the road seems to think he knows more about Bush than Bush himself.
  • It is interesting to know that a person who did BE computer Science in some arbitrary college and now writes some program in a 'saaftwear' company seems to think that a President of some other country is less intelligent than him. The most important person he has met in his life is his school principal or his Technical Manager. His greatest acheivement in life is to buy a 958 Sq Ft house in BTM layout. And he thinks Bush is stupid. He spends 3 nervous days preparing to talk to his boss about a salary raise. 5 minutes before he talks to his boss, he develops cold feet, goes in and blabbers shit. He thinks Bush is stupid. If you ask, he will give no reason as to why he thinks so - maybe he associates C/Java/XML programming with intelligence.
  • Some of the CIA folks, Pentagon advisors are surprised that Indians know more about top-secret government meetings despite the former being present in those meetings and the latter having no clue where the meeting took place.
  • The last 3 weeks and the above 3 points have convinced me beyond doubt that GW Bush is extremely intelligent and is 100% right about Iraq.
  • Most Indians will give 2 opinions on just about any topic in the world. There is an army of 700 million people who are waiting to give advise to Prime Minister Manmohan singh on what to do with Reservations, Kashmir, LTTE, Iraq, and Sensex.
  • Manmohan Singh is afraid that if he goes out, people from Rashtrapathi Bhavan to Saravana Bhavan will advise him.
  • 650 Million of those 700 million have an expert surgical opinion on Tendulkar's arm.
  • Amir Khan's latest Coke Advt is the worst advt I have ever seen. It is painfully and nauseatingly irritating. I can't believe this reasonably good actor can degrade himself to such an extent for a commercial.
  • West Indian umpires were far more biased than Indian umpires before the days of neutral umpires. Especially their 3rd umpires. Michael holding is the most biased commentator on the planet. I have a problem with him being so obvious about it. He is good but biased. And it is not a trivial matter to overtake NS Sidhu in terms of being the most obviously biased commentator.
  • Komanam again: This is the most effecient dress I have seen so far. It covers exactly (and precisely) what it should cover and nothing more. It is operationally effecient, cool and the person wearing it can pretend that it is actually a dress even though it attracts (and scares) onlookers .

I think the word "Indian" can be substituted by any nationality...
Commoners world-over seem to have this tendency to offer opinions on matters of the world that have the least bearing to their existence/lives or matters over which they have no control... like the examples you cite...

what is komanam

Hawkeye said...

Komanam: there is a small black thread that people wear around their waist. Consider that to be a circle draw across the body in the hhorizontal axis.

then consider a semi circular cloth that wraps around the body in the vertical axis intersecting/tied to the horizontal thread near the navel on the front side - and just above the line separating the buttox on the other side

Anonymous said...

You can define it is a custom made white men's thong made from recycled cloth.

Btw, hawkeyeview you blogs are very funny. I am a regular reader.

Hawkeye said...

thanks anonymous,

in simple layman terms - it basically covers only the male genital, testicles, and the butt crack. it leaves nothing else to imagination. thats komanam for you.

I wouldn't be surprised if Amitabh Bachchan and Sachin Tendulkar would endorse sanitary napkins, SRK is in the same league

Aishwarya Rai can't make up her mind if she wants to stick to an American accent or a British one

Besides your blog is super

I really have missed your blog for a looong time. It felt good catching up with all this.

P.S.- What is the harm in having an opinion? How else do you expect the desi pundits to spend their evenings after a particularly winding day at blabbering in the office? :D

And about the Big B and the Little master, well, they're making hay while the sun shines. Why snob at them when Mr. Khan goes out and advertises about bathing (against the morales of all engineers, you know) ?

in telugu ..komanam is known as "Gochi"... good definition .. thanks for it... been tryign t reach ur number like anything atyour madras contact number and always ended up in ur voice mail.

When it comes to gochi... a telugu saying comes to my mind .. "adrustam bagokapothey evariko gochi lo pidugu padindata"// means... "Someone whom bad luck has haunted has got strike by lightning in his komanam" :))

Kovanam, Komanam, Gochi, Langotu, Loin-cloth ... all are same.. wear during childhood while taking bath.. Still a undergarment used in many places.. Western thong is nothing but a kovanam and black thread made of same cloth..

I am an orthodox Brahmin, I am using only kaupina, from the child hood. It is very good for health point of view.

As every Indian should wear kaupinam at least whle going to mandir or pooja etc.

While you are in kaupina no sexsual feelings will not come and also while you if you see any beautiful or sexy women you are under control. Dammm sure.

Try it.Kaupina is nothing but komanam.

Anonymous said...

Yes. Kaupina or kovanam must come back.. it is better than today's costly briefs.... ..

Anonymous said...

Komanam is ideal underwear for any season. It is making a come-back. I'm personally using it since my childhood.

Since my childhood i am disciplined to wear komanam, till now i am following it.It is a very comfortable under garment any time.I find the use of komanam is fading nowadays,i find this one a good habit and could not find a reason why we are not following this.

I am an orthodox brahmin.I wear only kaupinam daily and also suggest everybody to try to wear the simple costume. It is very comfortable.
Kaupinam is Komanam.

Vaithy.

Anonymous said...

When old fashion are back in us,then why not simple komanam.
It is coming back, people has started talking about it.An ideal costume for all seasons, very comfortable than todays brief.

Anonymous said...

In genaral people in the mordern civilized era think that Komanam/
Kaupinam/Loincloth are especially
meant for sadhus,villagers and for
the poor class etc.We must also think practical because why ancient people wore a loincloth first and dressed themselves in variety of costumes, there are some
valuable reasons in it.

Anonymous said...

Practice:loincloth/komanam/kaupinam

I find very few people only using
the above as their regular under garment.some uses it very rare.I am regular wearer of the above.

Any inputs.

Anonymous said...

It is still widely worn in UP and Bihar. Red kaupina or langoti is often worshipped and tied to a peepul tree as an offering to Hanuman.I switched over from briefs to the kaupina or langot as it is very comfortable, durable and cheap. It has a traingular seat with a 4to 6 inches wide cloth of sufficient length stitched to its apex.it is tied around the waist and the cloth strip passes from behind up front, below the waist support and then tucked back after passing again between the legs. it is one of the best supports for the genitals and is still advised by Indian surgeons in place of the fancy T bandage.

Anonymous said...

People are still there following the old fashion in a secured way. What is G string and Thongs. It is a redefind version of Komanam/Langoti which are hand made
whereas those things which comesin a different name are machine made garments.

Anonymous said...

Change under garment.
I started wearing Komanam while taking bath outside the backyard of the house in child hood days and was taught by my grand parents.
the same became my under garment which i felt is more comfortable than the mordern VIP or JOCKS.I feel very difficult to switch over because of the inherent habit inside me.I am just wondering that
why people are bit reluctant to wear the most comfortable dress/innerwear for all seasons
which human has dicoverd at the Early age itself.

Ha ! Good to see so much interest in the Komanam. It is a great undergarment. You fit it snug yourself it is not like the jocks you wear with gaps opening up and the elastic sliding. You dont know it is there because it becomes so much a part of you but lets you know its presence at those awkward moments! I have always used it 24 x 7 and can not do without it. It is also sensual and women like it, even though they may not admit. And dont forget the health benefits - no hydrocele, no hernia and dead centring of your vitals. Not like modern breifs in which you can develop a prominent leftist or rightist tendency and the Komanam conserves vital energies for the right moment. Have started a blog that is still under construction. It will take a while to be fully loaded but go and visit and make a post = http://KomanamKaupinam.blogspot.com . Or send me a mail at komanam@live.com. And try it and start to wear the Komanam 24 x 7.

Anonymous said...

I have seen your write about Komanam. It is really good - In fact I have also started wearing Komanam at home . Later I will make it a habit of wearing komanam 24 x 7.

There should be a site called Komanam - there views about komanam can be put & all the viewers can read & that might probably help readers to shift to komanam.

Anonymous said...

It is good that Komanam is going to have great come back. Many & many people are talking about. The advantages mentioned by various people are really correct. Presently all the ready-made undergarments are very expensive & not healthy also. Therefore, It is really good that more & more people should shift to wearing komanam at least at home or doing pooja in the beginning & later 24 x 7.

Koubeenam, Kaccham, Langodu, all the same.

By the way, scientifically it has been proven and there are many proven theories that tight fitting clothing reduces the fertility(increases impotency) in both men and women.

Long live Vetti, Lungi(Aka Sarong or Manskirt). :-)

Anonymous said...

I think scientific theories may be right to some extent only.Tight fitting cloth and long hours of sitting in one placce or in a chair may cause impotency and not by wearing komanam.Whereas itkeeps a person duly fit always, if he is with that.It is nothing but todays breif without elastic,Thats all.

Hi ! Interesting that my comment on 20th June has drawn more postings on an old item in this blog. I hope many of you will visit my blog :http://komanamkaupinam.blogspot.com/ and leave a comment. That will help me to add some posts and load the blog fully. I promise you many interesting and useful posts. And othees will contribute as well.

But I msut make a response to the comment of Vijay posted on 4th July. Which sceintific study has proved that tight fitting undergarments cause impotence Vijay? If that is true none of us should be here - because for centuries our ancestors wore Komanam as inner garment and procreated merrily. The human race did not die out because people wore Komanam. And why do you think it is tight fitting. You can adjsut the fit and it need not be more tight than a jock. And you will feel much better!

Hi Mr. Vijay,

It is sexy. ask your woman to take it off for you.

Anonymous said...

It is not at all sexy. It is how one looks at it. Wearing komanam does not in any way looks sexy. It is a traditional costume - please understand that.

Anonymous said...

Everything will look sexy to everybody provided how they look at it.The most comfortable costume
which our great forefathers have
discoverd for we people with great traditional values and also real health benfits in it.

Anonymous said...

If one looks at Komanam in the agle of being sexy , then for him komanam will look sexy only. But actually it is a traditional wear does not have any significance of being sexy or anything like that. On the contrary it is considered to be divine - many of our forefathers & even pandits / rishis wore komanam & do pooja / going to temple or any religious functions.

Komanam is coming back. If you go to any Ayurvedic massage, you will be wearing this only. I'm regular wearer of this cloth

Anonymous said...

It is very nice that Komanam is back in this 21st Century even. Hope many people will give a try & understand the advantages of the same. Thereafter, may be regular wearer of komanam - like me.

Anonymous said...

It is not only used in Ayurvedic Massage clubs,It is also used as a main under garment in some of the ancient martial arts till today.
Totally,it is a nice piece of cloth loaded with many advantages to the wearer at all times.
Hope, those interested will try and make it a habit at least from now onwardsand enjoy the comfort which can't be expressed in words.

Anonymous said...

Rightly said. Only one start wearing komanam, he feel the comfort. By mearly saying that is comfortable, the actual feeling of wearing komanam doesn't come. Hence, those who have not started wearing komanam, at least from now onwards start wear and feel the comfort, like those who wears regularly like me.

Anonymous said...

It is alwaysgood to have Komanam as the undergarment for any costume you wear on top be it a formal or casual wear.It becomes a part of you,but you will feel that's presence only in those those times. It is not like todays breif you wear it with the gaps opening on sides, waistband sliding gently downwards after sometime and a prominent right or leftist tendency when you are in a busy schedule.
Hope you will try and feel the difference.

Anonymous said...

What is given here is exactly right. Komanam should be the undergarment for any season and it is very comfortable . One can have the feeling of comfort only if he is start wearing the same on regular basis, like me. I do wear komanam regular basis whether at home or office - feeling more comfort .

Anonymous said...

I wonder why people are a bit reluctant to wear this comfortable costume which our early forefathers has discovered for the genarations.People must think about the health benefits only and not to feel ashamed or donot feel shy in wearing this attire which is practical and comfortable. It's relevance has gone because of the arrival of machine made garments in this mordern civilized era,but there are few diehards who still have the habit of wearing Komanam as the sole under garment any time.Old is always gold.
Try and make it a habit.

Anonymous said...

Old is Gold. Komanam is an undergarment which suits to everyone in all seasons without any hitch. One need not feel shy about wearing komanam. It is an old costume, which is very comfortable & health point of view it is advisable to wear komanam as inner garment without any shy. Those reads the comment should feel the importance of komanam and start wearing the same 24 x 7 with immediate effect.

Seen the comments about wearing komanam. Wish to share my views on komanam with like minded people's comments given here.

I also wear komanam at home & have stopped wearing the modern briefs etc. Komanam is really very good & health point of view, one should adopt komanam as their inner wear . In olden days, people wear komanam & on top " washti or thundu" . It gives gentleman status & divinity. I personally feel that komanam should be widely accepted & everyone should follow

Anonymous said...

What Mr.Ramachandran said is right,i don't know why he is not having that 24x7.
Practically speaking the fit which you can adjust according to our comfort level can only be felt, when you wear a komanam only and not in todays mordern jock or something else etc.
Try the simple costume first and then you will make it a habit.

Hallo friends. I am so impressed that so many people feel favourably about the Komanam. I had to wear from the time of my sacred thread function at the age of 11. That was 45 years back due to mother;s strict condition for Brahmachari (not insisted by her for my younger brother or even for father; neither of them followed it but I was given only the Komanam option). From the time I went to college hostel I switched to underwear but missed my Komanam and the comfort. Wore it at home for holidays only. Again mother insisted that at least at home I should not wear the jatti nonsense.

From age of 40 I switched back to full time Komanam because of a coincidence. The underwear was not dry and I complained. My wife said I should not make fuss but wear a Komanam like a man. That is how it restarted for last 15 years. 24 x 7 and I regret the years when I did not wear Komanam full time.

Always use handloom white veshti of 9 inches width. Use double fold and make usre that the tail of the Komanam almost reaches to your testicles (that is when the tail is tucked inside at the back. Now the Komanam will not come loose at all and the double fold will feel better than single fold (you can even stand only in Komanam for exercise etc and no see through). Handloom will be soft and give ventilation.

When you wear Komanam like this you will not want to have any other underwear and you will like it all 24 hours a day. Try.

You can also wear to office under the pants. I do that. FFor calls of nature you can use the W.C for privacy. Then you can untie and retie the Komanam after passing urine. You will really like it.

Please try and post your reactions.
