Mundam: The state of being without cell phone

The Verizon/LG cell phone that I bought promptly croaked after 1 year of service. The battery drains out in 2 minutes. This is not uncommon among phones today and my phone certainly wont be an exception in a positive way.
Seattle is a place that doesnt allow you to make calls cheaply also. Its three hours behind anybody you know. By the time you hit your night-time minute zone, everybody is sleeping. When you wake up they are already at work. For the past 3 days I feel like I've been getting up at 9:00AM and sleeping at 2:00AM. I am neither here nor there.
This city has no Air Condition (the colling part of it). I think it is unheard of. The first two days it was sweaty and uncomfortable. Thank God! it changed. Now it is rainy and cold.

the best thing is to ask around if somebody has mp3 CDs with songs of Ilayaraja and ARR, if you want to get them all at once. these things sell for 50 rupees or so in richy street, as you might be aware. apart from this, cooltoad seems to be the most popular. or you could download a bunch of amazing background scores for your ipod from my friend's webpage here: http://www.ee.duke.edu/~vijay/BGM.html

Anush, are you from SBOA? Wondering how you know Vijay..
Bharath, sorry I don't know any places where you can download songs but I would appreciate if you share the results of your quest ;)

Also, on the cell phone topic - I have been using Ericsson, Sony & now Sony-Ericsson (how convenient!) phones for the last 7 years and never had any issues. How long are you in Seattle? Heading to California anytime?

Aaahhh the land of no A/Cs!! Reminds me of my days in Portland, OR... very similar climate... very similar culture...
Actually, we could do very well without A/Cs for most part of the year except for 4-5 days a year... a fan would be more than sufficient....
Ever since I moved to the midwest and then the northeast, I cannot imagine how I'd lived without an A/C for all those years(actually only 3, so 'all those' is konjum too much)...

I can ftp in a single shot a lot of songs instead of downloading it 1-by-1.

Hawkeye, Isn't that asking for too much or am I missing something? :)

Try this - the one-stop resource for raja fans

Bharath - yeah, may be I should have said "your friend's webpage" ;) didn't know. that's cool though. I have actually known him from 10th std too - 'cause his father and mine were colleagues or something like that. His passion for raja totally humbled me, after he celebrated raja's 60th b'day for 8 hours straight! (i used to think I'm the mega fan). He also took care of the wholesale distribution of thiruvasagam CDs for the U.S. avan raajavoda panna attagasam ellam fulla theriyum. anyways, are you in touch with him? I haven't been able to catch him in the recent months (coincidentally after he got married).

Hawkeye, come on! If you were designing any building in Seattle, would you even think of putting in a cooling system? :)

But I find the system of cell phones here in the US quite strange as compared to India: and sure Nokia rules

Bharath, that was fantastic stuff then. I wish I was older than what I am..
