It is not everyday that one of the greatest actors (or should I say movie maker) of our times teams up with a hugely promising director who gave Kaakha Kaakha and got Hollywood calling him. Kamal talks about the second movie of Gautham's trilogy on encounter cops. And many other things. Gautham had already stated that Vijaykumar, the real life cop who caught Veerappan, was the 'inspiration' behind this trilogy. Kamal, it seems, potrays Vijaykumar'ish character, as a 40 year old cop.
I planned to leave Chicago on Friday evening, spend the night in Ann Arbor and fly off to Seattle for a week of timepass in Seattle. But Kamal Hasan and Gautham have changed my plans. Vettaiyadu Velaiyadu.
The movie releases on Friday, Aug 25th in Chicago, Detroit etc. But only releases on Sept 9th in Seattle. So if I miss it now in Chicago, I may never catch it in theaters. Ya! I can see you agree that this is totally an emergency situation. So I am finishing up my internship on Friday, rushing to the theaters for a 7:00 PM show and the driving from the theater to Ann Arbor (like a 5 hr drive) after the movie is done. I will probably reach AA at 4:00 AM in the morning and then I will have to rush for the Seattle flight.
I am sort of positive the movie will be worth it. But I have been told that the Fox Lake theater is like the shittiest theater in the world. I am hoping it is not as worse as the New Jersey Theater which screened 'Kannathil Muthamittal' (it was the size of a living room filled with noisy mannerless people).
What would I give to have a Sathyam theater in the US?
p.s: wife is okay with this.

25th aa? Aniyaayam. Atlanta la Sep 1st thaan. :(
I pity producer Narayanan. VV had problems since it's launch. The original producer Kaja Moideen had lot of debts and he tried to commit suicide. After that VV shooting came was stopped. Nobody wanted to touch this project. Narayanan came into this film to save it but somebody have to save him now. Atleast Kamal should be considerate on salary issue considering the fact that Narayanan is releasing this movie at a loss of 4 crores.
I feel that its very late to stop the movie from releasing. But anything can happen in Tamil film industry.
Btw I was the anonymous commenter in your last post about VV.
Ya! I can see you agree that this is totally an emergency situation.
Hardly! Wife on call during the one weekend that the movie is being screened here in So. Cal. and no one to take care of the kids.....THAT is an emergency. Any suggestions????
Yes. Seriously thinking of giving said kids up for adoption!
enga oor theatra pathi thappa pesittanda doi!
planning on going with the baguth gang and probably taking my aunt and uncle who're visiting Chicago. I really hope this one is worth it and doesn't turn up like Mumbai Express. But I admire the lengths you are willing to go to for a kamal movie ;-)
on matters unrelated - I'm planning on apping to Ross for Fall 07. Could I get in touch with you for some advice and blessings?
Oh fuck..wait for internet uploads.Wont you ?

You sure got balls ? I thought you are a eunuch...And you are one !
"New Jersey Theater". NJla yella theatreum shitty dhaan ... if one is too small, the other one will blare their speakers like you are a 'damaara kaadhu'.
nilu is like agent in matrix. many of them floating around.
hope VV lives up to expectations...
also waiting 4 ur review!!!
I liked the postscript the best... I have done similar kind of stuff to watch movies too.. So I know what you must be going through...
Allo,
what made you think that this is second movie of trilogy? and why always trilogy trilogy? grow up hawkeye.
review, review, review.....
Deepa: Correct a puttu puttu vecha! And particularly the theater that is showing VV is pathetic. It is showing on more than one screen. The hall I saw it on, smelled more than the bed bug infested hell holes in Thanjavur and had a sound system that turn itself on and off at its own convenience.
As for the padam..to put it in Sun TV style, Vettaiyadu Vilayaadu - Verum Vilayattu!
Would have been a lot better except for the fact that Gautam seemed to have lost interest after a point. Lot of lines that would have made Thalaivar proud (for e.g. In India we call it the Raghavan intution" or something like that) and these lines got the whistles and claps. Technically average at best, but am sure it will do good business! Certainly not Gautam's best and he even manages to make a fool of myself by dancing/singing/moving along with a couple of Afro American extras in the background.
who gave Kaakha Kaakha and ** got Hollywood calling him **

i saw the movie yesterday. its pretty good. the first half is quite slowpaced and somewhat boring, since kamal-jothika romance isnt all that good, but post interval, the story picks up and the climax is riveting. a very simple story told in a different way. kamal, for a change, has underplayed his character and he revels in the climax scenes.
