M.S, Pierce Brosnan, Manirathnam's Guru

Even if you have no clue what Carnatic Classical Music is all about, M.S needs no introduction. Neither does this song. But this so awesome. What more could one ask?

Pierce Brosnan is my favorite actor. I am saying this with a great and unblemished track record of hetrosexuality - He is one of the most handsome men I have seen. Remington Steel is one of my favorite TV Series. I have seen each episode close to 15 times (second only to M*A*S*H). Here is Pierce Brosnan, raw, young actor at the David Letterman show. He is more garrulous than what he is now. You can almost sense the fact that he is kind of jumpy. Here is some background info, which is not in this video, to set a context. He was approached by EON for the Bond role then but Michael Gleason the producer of Remington Steele refused to release him from the contract and as a result Brosnan lost the role to Timothy Dalton. We know what happened later. If only he had got Bond then. Look at him deny the whole thing in this interview. I can't believe he had problems with Stephanie Zimbalist (I am assuming Letterman was joking). They had such wonderful chemistry. Also seen in this video is Cassandra Harris, Brosnan's wife who passed away due to breast cancer. She was a bond girl in For your eyes only.

Here is Brosnan again making fun of Daniel Craig, the new Bond. I am huge fan of Bond too. You wake me up in the middle of the night and I can tell you the order of book & movie releases in chronological order.

The Remington Steele Song.

Manirathnam's Guru is my next most "majorly" expected movie of this year. It stars Aishu, Abhishek Bachan and Mithuda. He is making a Hindi movie this time around and it is not a bilingual in Tamil. I hope to God he does not dub it in tamil, like he did for Dilse. Here are some clips of Guru's shooting.

I too loved Remington Steele, Sledgehammer and other such shows that were shown when Star Plus launched in India. Liberated me from the Tuesday night dramas and Sunday evening movies
of DD.

Nobody remembers Doris (Marie Barone) for Remington Steele anymore after the success of 'Everybody loves Raymond'.

Does YouTube have all the videos of songs picturized by Manirathnam and Shankar?

Have u noticed, when brosnan smiles, one end of his mouth is upturned and the other downturned! Brought back memories of a teenage crush.

Kurai Onrum Illai, composed by Rajaji, was sung by MS at the UN. Offhand, I don't think there was before or has been after that any other song in Tamizh sung at the UN General Assembly. Thus, not only sung very beautifully and well composed but a song of great significance in its own regard.

Was there a connection between the MS, Brosnan and Manirathnam? Or was it just a pot-pourri kind of post?

BTW, I liked your earlier post about the perception of time as well.

Kurai ondrum illai has an interesting story behind it. Rajaji lost the assembly election and was very depressed -- only to realize that there is so much the divine has bestowed upon him and wrote the song to convey to lord he has no complaints!
