Real Estate
Real Estate prices in W. Mambalam seem to be more expensive than California. Based on random anecdotal evidence, Madras prices seem to have not dropped as steeply as bangalore. People are buying a 1700 Sq Ft house in arbit places in bendhakilathoor because they wouldn't get even a 1000 St Ft house in Mambalam for that budget.

I knew people who moved to places like Medavakam and Selaiyur after selling their property in W Mambalam.

Hehehe, We just moved to Ramapuram :) And we are a bunch of people born and brought up in Mambalam. I know what you're talking about.
machi we (mum) moved to Velachery, no more nungambakkam :-(....next time when I say I'll pick u to go to Sathyam it wud mean c u at the theatre half hour later :-)
So you mean to say, because my parents happen to live in their own apartment in W Mambalam, 8 mins from Pothys makes my dad some stinking rich bloke!? NAV wise at least :)
