Thoughts
1. Attempted reference to VettEzhutthu and the conversion of that to thamizh script. Though I feel Iravadham Mahadhevan should have got at least some reference or at least a frame in the video as most of the stones with early script shown in the video were uncovered/interpreted/dated with his help.
2. Kamban gets a last minute squeeze in w/ Blaaze getting those lines and Gautham is quick to capture the moment by putting it against a Srirangam backdrop.
3. Shruthi Hasan continues to test the 8th octave.
4. Sri VilliPutthur Gopuram, the symbol of TN Govt, gets a frame.
5. Lighter side: First thing thamizh saaftwear chic does on the first day of her job is do some vetti browsing.

What an observation. Just a split second on the screen with the google page open. Really appreciate it. Ofcourse antha seatla mahathi illla ethavathu figure iruntha ithellam notice panna maataenga.
did i miss seein ilayaraja / spb in this video?:-0
Exactly - MLC's post. I'd have preferred MSV, Ilaiyaraja, Vairamuthu, SPB... and MK getting 10 15 sec is too much - i;d have preferred MK - Vairamuthu - Vaali and other such people together in the same frame ...
nevertheless its a good video...
I live in Coimbatore, where the Maanadu is going to take place, here are some interesting things that have been happening.
1. When M.K visited, we didn't have power cuts for a couple of days.
2. Street talk is that lots of the textile and other industrialists "contributed" to the expenditure.
3. All major roads are getting sidewalks which means you can't park anywhere.
4. Most older buses are gone. It's like they just decided to replace all the old ones with new ones.
5. Random roads have been made one ways and where there used to be some heavy traffic and virtually no jams - there are always jams. So much in fact that people are starting early everywhere and you can hear "traffic machi" everywhere.
6. Kalaignar's and Stalin's photos in various costumes and poses are all over town. walls, makeshift billboards what not... Soon photos from their family picnics are going to be there too.
Worst ever use of resources. Even worse planning. kalaignar is become intolerable. Everywhere in tamil nadu he's pasting his posters and he's hogged more space in the video than anyone else. For god's sake.
If I'm in Cbe during the maanadu, I'll get some "reviews".
Illayaraja? like people have already pointed out.
And thanks for the links about Iravadham Mahadhevan.
Is that actress Samantha(2:10)?
my 2 cents..
the video looks more like a political statement in many places more than a statement about the language..
The song itself is good in some areas and reminds you of 'Thaai manne vanakkam', but certain pieces/people could have been avoided..(the nagoor brothers can't even pronounce semmozhi properly)...
i think that the figure you are referring to is the one who comes in 'angadi theru' movie..
I agree that IR/SPB/VM/Vaali are notable exclusions.. Was an invitation made to them? I'm not sure.. I'm guessing that IR declined and SPB was touring abroad..
Ange niikiran Karthik.
love the way the video is shot....
Visuals are good, but they miss tamil feel. Except couple of guys, none of the men wear veshti and almost every women in this video comes in a white saree. In TN, white saree is considered inauspicious and TN women won't wear white sarees. All mallu effect because of Gautam.
The guy who is calling his wife into the room after his daughter drew on the wall actually saying "come" in englees :D
Because "vaa endraal udhadugal ottadhu, come endraale ottum"
Also, Sudha Raghunathan is conspicuous by her absence (considering that all her contemporaries are there in the video - Nithyashree, Aruna Sairam, Sowmya, Bombay)
oh boy...Sowmya definitely looks a li'l bit on the heavier side...

@Mahesh
Not just little bit.. You should have seen her in Airtel Super Singer Junior last week when she danced... yes she danced....

why is tamil a semmozhi?
http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Why_tamil_is_called_as_semmozhi
It just is less than average. GVM has to learn to do good movies first before doing these. Bharath Bala could have done this much better. And surprising that we could not see Illayaraja and Kamal (self styled champion of Tamil language...)
Also if one notices there are lot of ommissions. I dont think it covers Tamil festivals properly. Looks foolish to paint some apartment complex with some graphics on tamil etc. looks like some LA suburb..
The quality of the video is as good as the cinema and governance in TamilNadu today
I have to say this Vijay TV advert is far better than this video from GVM. Except for a couple of aerial shots. Rest all suck and What is this with his obsession for White Sarees? Idiotic to say the least..

And WTF was Shruti Hassan trying to do? LOL

Yawn. They had to have MuKa there somehow. When is the tamil film industry going to celebrate 75th anniversary of his first night discharge?
lol! omitting IR and including YSR ! ... looks like an amateurish attempt at being different and youthful
Absolutely silly video... song too has no Tamil feel..needed a touch of gramam flavour more...touched on the accents etc.
And what was that with that fair "setu veetu ponnu" type of wife for that Kaloori hero guy... couldnt they find a karuppy thamizhachi?
That patti playback singer gets too much screen time -- what is her name P.Suseela? As does TMS.
I would have rather seen the footwork of some of those cool folk artistes. The poi-kaal gudhirai artiste was terrific.
That melanin-deficient ponnu is by no means Tamil, is she? But we shouldn't complain because that fair, gundu singer Vasundhara played Punjabi bride in Monsoon wedding.
